Zachary Weiner

Zack Weiner

Zack was born and raised in New York City but currently lives in Philadelphia where he studies math and economics at Penn. He wrote sports for his High School newspaper, “The Stuyvesant Standard” and currently co-hosts “The Zone,” a sports-talk radio show on WQHS. Zack has attended MLB, NFL and NBA games as press and has interviewed sports professionals such as the General Manager of the New York Jets Mike Tannenbaum and ESPN Business Analyst Andrew Brandt.

Robert Hess
Chief Operating Officer

Robert Hess

Robert hails from New York City. When he’s not hitting the library (to read the weekly Sports Illustrated) at Yale, Robert plays chess across the country and around the world, as he is one of the top grandmasters in the US. He was a writer for the sports section of his high school newspaper, “Stuyvesant Standard”. Robert is an expert at all things college basketball and football.

Peter Hess
Chief Content Officer

Peter Hess

Peter is straight out of New York City. He goes to school at Penn, where he studies economics and art history. He was sports editor for his high school newspaper, “Science Survey” and is co-hosting the sports radio show “The Zone” on WQHS with Zack this fall. Peter is a fantasy football fanatic and can spit out any NFL stat you ask for, even giving you some key advice on how to win your league.

Leo Ernst

Leo Ernst

Leo was born and raised in New York, but currently studies writing and philosophy at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. His writing experience includes several paper submissions to prominent philosophy journals as well as frequent blogging of film and theater critique. Leo is an avid sports fan and expert in all things NHL, including and especially statistical analysis and fantasy league play.

Christine Hong

Hailing from Greenville, NC, Christine studies Economics and Computer Science at Yale University and is on the Alpine Ski team. She will always be an avid Cam Ward and Carolina Hurricanes fan, no matter what others say, and her dream is to be on the Amazing Race. When Christine isn’t working on the SQ site, she spends her time on Net Impact, making web apps, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and figuring out ways to travel the world.


Kyle Toomey

Kyle comes from Woodbridge, VA and is a Sociology major at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of Penn’s baseball team for two years. Currently he works in the Communications department as a photographer while assisting in social media. Raised outside of Washington D.C., currently living in Philadelphia, he likes to believe rooting for both cities’ sport’s teams is completely acceptable.

Kelli claims Cincinnati, Ohio as home, though she spends majority of her year in Philadelphia, studying Marketing and Legal Studies & Business Ethics at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is a diehard Bengals and Reds fan, even through their more trying seasons, as well as a Penn Quaker ’til the end. While she considers basketball, baseball and football as her Big Three, Kelli loves all sports. Kelli currently works on the marketing team for the SQ.


Anthony Zhao

Anthony moved to New York when he was 14, but his fan loyalties still reflect his suburban Philly roots. He is a junior studying Engineering and Economics at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. He has five-plus years of sports journalism experience, covering a variety of sports for his high school paper, The Stuyvesant Spectator, as well for The Dartmouth, America’s oldest college daily newspaper. His other campus activities include playing on the club baseball team and serving as Jock and Programming Chair of Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity. He recently spent a semester as an analyst at a global executive search and management consulting firm and is a member of the marketing and business development team at SQ.

Dan Sumner

Dan Sumner

Dan is currently a Senior at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is from Franklin Lakes (Northern), New Jersey and an avid Mets, Giants, Knicks, Kentucky Basketball, and Penn sports fan. He currently works for Penn Athletic Operations part-time and previously worked for MLB Network. He also works part-time for Sulia, the personal expert network.

Austin Josiah

Austin Josiah is originally from SoCal but did most of his growing up in Orlando, FL. He is currently a student at Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studies economics and legal studies. He was a 3 sport athlete in high school and had a brief stint on the Quakers’ baseball team.  He enjoys staying abreast of all the latest sports news especially when it involves his beloved Florida Gators.  Currently, he serves on the Undergraduate Sports Business Club Board at his school and loves planning speaker events.


Ryan Polsky
Midwest Regional Manager

Ryan

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Ryan will be beginning his sophomore year at Saint Louis University in Fall 2013. A Sports Business major, Ryan eventually wants to work in the sports industry. At school, he is a leader of the SLUnatics, the official student section at the Billiken men’s basketball games. Besides working for the SQ, Ryan enjoys chess, current events, and is on the Executive Board of his university’s Amnesty International chapter.

 


Jeff Poirier
West Regional Manager

Jeff

Jeff is a recent graduate of UCLA currently chasing his dream career working in the sports media world. He was originally born and raised in Rhode Island before moving to Arizona for high school. As a result, his sports allegiances are based primarily out of Boston, though you’ll find him cheering for Phoenix teams now and then. But above all else, he’s a die-hard follower of his alma mater, and always has something to say about the Bruins. In addition to working for the SQ, Jeff owns and operates a UCLA sports blog called Go Joe Bruin and works part-time within the UCLA Athletics Department.

Kassa Korley

Kassa Korley

For as long as he can remember, Kassa has loved two things: chess and basketball. Born in New York and raised in Harlem, he was able to get a daily dose of both raw street cultures in the parks around the city. While he enjoys and plays many sports, most of his commentary on the SQ is on all things NBA. He is currently an undergraduate at Duke University.
