The Mets could potentially be without Jacob deGrom for a bit as he had to leave the game early tonight after he was hit in the arm by a line drive. Nick Williams of the Philadelphia Phillies hit the ball right off his torso and after being examined by the trainer, it was deemed that Jacob deGrom’s night was over.
deGrom had been in cruise control through six innings before he got hurt in the seventh inning as he’s been great against the Phillies throughout his career. Entering tonight’s start, he was 5-0 with a 2.34 ERA against them in nine career starts.
There’s been no update on deGrom since he got removed from the game and an update won’t likely come until after the game when Mets manager Terry Collins will meet with the media. So far this season, deGrom is 12-5 with a 3.36 ERA and has been arguably their best player despite the team as a whole not having a very good season.
