New York Yankees shortstop, Didi Gregorius, is expected to miss a significant part of the 2019 season as he is set to undergo Tommy John surgery. A MRI on Thursday revealed a tear in his elbow, which he injured during Game 2 of the ALDS.

The injury leaves the young Gleyber Torres as the most likely option to fill in for Gregorius as he slides over from the second base position. Torres has also underwent Tommy John surgery, but made it back in time for Opening Day 2018.
Gregorius batted .268 while adding a total of 27 home runs and 86 RBIs as he improved on last years numbers. However, after being acquired in a three team trade back in 2015, he is entering his final year of his current contract.
