SQ’s Max Holm sat down with the Pistons point guard to discuss his off season and his presence at The Basketball Tournament.
After covering and attending this past weekend’s West Regional at The Basketball Tournament, I got the chance to briefly sit down with Spencer Dinwiddie of the Detroit Pistons. The NBA point guard was in Los Angeles to support Team Colorado, which was made up of former players at the University of Colorado - Dinwiddie’s Alma mater.
Dinwiddie was drafted by the Pistons last year in the 2nd round of the draft. His stock fell after a season-ending injury, but the point guard has made the most of things and is now looking to be Reggie Jackson’s backup for the upcoming season.
Dinwiddie averaged north of 14 points per game in his sophomore and junior years at Colorado before opting for the NBA draft.
While Dinwiddie’s playing time was inconsistent during his rookie campaign, he put together some very impressive outings when given substantial minutes, headlined by a 20-point, 8-assist game against the Washington Wizards in February.
Dinwiddie is now looking forward to the new season and improving his game after enjoying watching his alma mater’s team at The Basketball Tournament.
