The Golden State Warriors took full advantage of Kawhi Leonard‘s absence, dominating the San Antonio Spurs 136-100 on Tuesday night and taking a commanding, 2-0 series lead.
Stephen Curry led all scorers with 29 points in just 31 minutes, while also pitching in seven rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Kevin Durant chipped in 16 points and because the Warriors’ lead was so large, rookie guard Patrick McCaw was able to play 27 minutes off the bench and lead all reserves with 18 points.
San Antonio’s bright spot came from Jonathon Simmons, who continued his terrific recent play, scoring a team-high 22 points. The game was just never in reach for the Spurs, who were without their leading scorer, as they trailed by 17 after one period and 28 at the half.
Game 3 of this best of seven series will be played in San Antonio on Saturday evening. There is no word yet on whether or not the Spurs will have Leonard back from his ankle injury.
