Steve Fisher Retires As Head Coach At San Diego State University

Legendary head coach Steve Fisher, 72, is retiring after 27 years of coaching and 1 year left on his contract. 

Fisher won a title game with the University of Michigan as interim head coach in 1989 and made two more appearances with the famed ‘Fab Five’.

Fisher joined the Aztec’s program in 1999 and took San Diego State to eight NCAA tournament games and five NIT tournaments appearances in 18 seasons.

His record at the school is 386-209, and his career mark is 571-290. The Aztecs were 19-14 last season and 9-9 in the Mountain West.
