With less than ten seconds remaining in a tie game (74-74) between Stanford and USC, the Trojans had possession, and the opportunity to put themselves ahead. USC’s Jordan McLaughlin received the ball on the inbound pass, and proceeded to take it coast-to-coast, putting his team up 76-74 with a crafty layup.
Now, with less than two seconds remaining, and no timeouts left, you could certainly say that Stanford’s back was against the wall. Game over, right? Nope. What would transpire next reiterates Yogi Berra’s classic saying, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”
Stanford’s Daejon Davis caught the inbound pass, took a dribble, and heaved up a shot a few feet before crossing the half court line. After the ball went through the hoop, some of the home fans at Stanford stormed the court, which was a fitting way to celebrate this thrilling buzzer-beater.
