Best Fanduel Plays: Week 5

New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (nj.com)

This could be your week.

I don’t see Week 5 being a particularly high-scoring week across the board. What I do like about this week is the Saints and Eagles, both coming off losses at home against the Bucs and Rams respectively. Here are all my top plays for Week 5:

Quarterback

Drew Brees ($9,100) vs. Tampa Buccaneers:

Brees had a rough game last week against the Cowboys. He is a prime bounce-back candidate this week at home against the Bucs. Think about playing Jimmy Graham, Brandin Cooks, and/or Marques Colston along with Brees.

Eli Manning ($7,300) vs. Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons’ defense is bad. The Giants are going to move the ball and score, the question simply becomes who gets the touchdowns. He isn’t the safest play, but he has good upside at a cheap price. Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, and Larry Donnell are all good plays with Eli.

Honorable Mention: Phillip Rivers ($8,900) vs. New York (Jets) Ben Roethlisberger ($8,300) @ Jacksonville / Nick Foles ($7,900) vs. St. Louis / Cam Newton ($7,600) vs. Chicago

Running Back

Marshawn Lynch ($9,100) @ Washington Redskins: Lynch has been a stud so far, and he should continue his success against the Redskins. Safe play in tournaments and 50/50s.

LeSean McCoy ($8,300) vs. St. Louis Rams:

McCoy is bound for a good game sooner than later. The Eagles should win comfortably at home, and McCoy should be a key part of the game plan.

Rashad Jennings ($7,300) vs. Atlanta Falcons: Jennings was a dropped pass at the two yard line away from another double-digit performance in Week 4. Matt Asiata put up 28 points against the Falcons at home last week. Great matchup here.

Honorable Mention: Le’Veon Bell ($8,600) @ Jacksonville / Chris Ivory ($6,200) @ San Diego / Darren Sproles ($6,100) vs. St. Louis / Khiry Robinson ($4,900) vs. Tampa Bay

Wide Receiver

Antonio Brown ($9,000) @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Brown has been one of the most consistent fantasy players in 2014 regardless of position. $9,000 is a lot for a receiver, but Brown is worth it, especially in 50/50 formats.

Jeremy Maclin ($7,600) vs. St. Louis Rams: Maclin and the rest of the Eagles offense should be able to consistently move the ball against the Rams at home. If the Rams can’t keep it close Maclin could have a down game, but he is a high upside play at a relatively cheap price.

Kelvin Benjamin ($7,100) vs. Chicago Bears:

Benjamin is having a very productive rookie season so far, and I think that should continue against the Bears, given the Panthers top three running backs are out with injury.

Andrew Hawkins ($5,300) @ Tennessee Titans: Hawkins has averaged 10.7 targets per game this season, good for third best in the league among players who have played in at least three games. He’s a safe value play, two things that don’t often accompany one another.

Honorable Mention: Victor Cruz ($7,000) vs. Atlanta Falcons / Brandin Cooks ($6,400) vs. Tampa Bay / Rueben Randle ($5,400) vs. Atlanta

Tight End

Jimmy Graham ($7,900) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Graham hasn’t performed the way many had expected to start the year, but $7,900 is a great price for the best tight end in the NFL

Greg Olsen ($5,900) vs. Chicago Bears:

Olsen has the fifth most targets among tight ends entering Week 5, and he should be a focal point of the offense on Sunday against his former team.

Owen Daniels ($5,100) @ Indianapolis Colts: Daniels’ familiarity with Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak from their time in Houston has been apparent this season. With Dennis Pitta out, Daniels is a quality value play at tight end against the high-powered Colts offense.

Honorable Mention: Larry Donnell ($6,200) vs. Atlanta / Zach Ertz ($5,400) vs. St. Louis

Defense/Special Teams

Lions D/ST ($4,800) vs. Buffalo Bills:

The Lions have been impressive on defense so far this year, and now they welcome newly minted starter Kyle Orton and the Buffalo Bills to town. I like this defense for only $4,800.

Honorable Mention: Eagles D/ST ($5,400) vs. St. Louis / San Francisco D/ST ($5,300) vs. Kansas City

Kicker

Shaun Suisham ($4,800) @ Jacksonville Jaguars: This game should be fairly high-scoring, and Suisham has been reliable so far this year. Decent cheap play at kicker.

Honorable Mention: Cody Parkey ($4,900) vs. St. Louis / Brandon McManus vs. Arizona ($4,900) / Robbie Gould ($4,600) @ Carolina
