Win big in the last week of the NFL regular season.
Now that season-long fantasy is over, daily fantasy will be the primary outlet for fantasy football fans over the next few weeks. If you didn’t win your league, now is your chance at redemption.
Week 17 is a bit different than every other week of the season from a fantasy perspective. Teams that have clinched playoff berths may opt to rest starters or pull them to avoid injury. Teams that are out of contention may give younger players a chance to play and sit veterans. For this reason its important to focus on rostering players on teams that are fully motivated to win.
None of the players in this week’s Bargain Bin are in situations where their team has an obvious incentive to sit them. It may end up happening depending on the flow of the game, but at the moment it appears as though they should all play a full game.
Here are this week’s top cheap plays:
Brian Hoyer (FanDuel - $6900 // DraftKings - $5100)
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
Hoyer has missed the last two games after suffering his second concussion of the season. His relatively high risk for re-injury makes him a risky play due to the fact that a big hit may knock him out of the game. If Hoyer does manage to last four quarters, he has the potential for a big game. The Jaguars pass defense is among the league’s worst, and Hoyer has quietly put together an impressive season. He’s too risky for cash games, but Hoyer offers upside for tournaments and multipliers.
Honorable Mention: Eli Manning
Rashad Jennings (FD - $5800 // DK - $3700): After seeing an inconsistent workload to start the season, Jennings has averaged 19 touches over his last three games. If he can see a similar workload against an Eagles defense that has all but mailed it in, he could have one of the top performances among running backs in Week 17. His price tag is more than reasonable on both sites.
Honorable Mention: Tre Mason
Stefon Diggs (FD - $5700 // DK - $4600)
Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports
Diggs got off to a scorching-hot start to his rookie season but has cooled off since. The Vikings run-heavy offense limits his upside and lowers his floor. However, his price tag is too cheap too ignore on FanDuel. You’re essentially hoping for a touchdown, which isn’t ideal, but the odds are good enough to roll the dice in tournaments. Diggs doesn’t qualify as a bargain on DraftKings.
Honorable Mention: Travis Benjamin
Zach Ertz (FD - $5700 // DK - $3600): Ertz has been on a tear as of late, averaging 8.7 catches for 99 yards over his last three games. The matchup is juicy, as the Giants have allowed the 2nd most points to opposing tight ends on DraftKings. Ertz is a lock this week and an absolute steal on DraftKings.
Honorable Mention: Ben Watson
St. Louis Rams (FD - $4600 // DK - $3000): The Rams defense had been slumping a bit before shutting down the red-hot Seahawks last week. Their task will be much easier as they will face the Blaine Gabbert-led 49ers. Fire up the St. Louis defense if you need to save some cap space at D/ST.
