Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Sammy Watkins said on Wednesday that he was “frustrated” with having such a small role in the offense.
Watkins spoke to reporters and said this:
“As a player, you’re going to be frustrated…I don’t know a player, a wide receiver, that’s not frustrated throughout the game if you’re not getting the ball. Each week, it could change. They had certain coverage that kind of took me out of the game, and that’s part of the game.”
Watkins has only 14 catches for 211 yards through five games this season after the Rams traded CB Jordan Gaines and a 2018 second-round draft pick for him.
Watkins’ previous seasons in Buffalo had been marred by injury as he found trouble consistently staying healthy. To his own credit, Watkins has managed to stay healthy but hasn’t received the volume of targets he had hoped for.
