The Bills will be Boldin’s fifth team in his long and historic career. Last season Boldin played with the Detroit Lions, appearing in all 16 games. Boldin caught 67 passes for 584 yards and eight touchdowns. His eight touchdown receptions led the Lions. Boldin was also second on the team in receptions this past season.
Over his career, Boldin has caught 1,076 passes for 13,779 yards and 82 touchdowns. His 1,076 receptions rank ninth all-time, and he only needs two more receptions to pass Terrell Owens for eighth all-time in receptions. Boldin is ranked 14th on the all-time receiving yards list, and only needs 122 more yards to move move up to 13th, where he would pass Hall-of-Famer Cris Carter.
The Bills are bringing Boldin in to be a mentor to their young receivers such as Sammy Watkins and Zay Jones. Watkins will be the Bills’ number one receiver but don’t be surprised if Boldin is the number two receiver with Zay Jones playing in the slot. Jones was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of East Carolina.
Boldin was teammates with starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor several years ago, as they were both members of the 2012-13 Ravens team that won Super Bowl XLVII.
