Cleveland Browns Acquire Jarvis Landry From Dolphins

USA Today

After signing his franchise tag Thursday with hopes of being traded elsewhere to sign a long term deal, wide receiver Jarvis Landry got his wish Friday, with a surprising destination in store.

The Cleveland Browns agreed to acquire Landry from Miami in exchange for two undisclosed draft picks, one in the 2018 draft and one in next year’s draft in 2019.

Landry, who was graded as the No. 19 receiver by Pro Football Focus in 2017, will get the long term deal he was seeking in Cleveland, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He will also be a valuable offensive threat alongside Josh Gordon in Cleveland, undoubtedly becoming the go-to target for whatever quarterback is under center next season.

In his four years with Miami, Landry has been a consistent offensive threat, racking up 4,038 yards on 400 catches, scoring 22 touchdowns in the process. Landry has also never missed a game while in league, which is why the deal came as such a surprise to many insiders, including NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

While the deal processes, many notable figures have already expressed their opinions, including Landry himself, who excitably noted of the coming changes to occur once on his new team.
