According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, NFL teams no longer believe the Giants will trade their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. before, or during, the upcoming NFL Draft. After weeks of rumors circulating hinting that the Giants may actually deal the wideout, it seems as if teams are having a change of thought.
Teams around the league no longer believe the Giants are going to be trading WR Odell Beckham before or during upcoming NFL draft, per sources. This represents a change in thinking of teams that once thought there was a real chance the Giants would trade Beckham.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 11, 2018
Just a few weeks ago, the Giants created massive headlines around the league when they announced that they would listen to trade offers involving their stud wide receiver. While the team continued to insist that Beckham Jr. was not on the market, the team was asking for at least two first-round draft picks in any potential deal that would involve him.
Many teams seemed interested, most notably the Los Angeles Rams, who backed out of the Odell sweepstakes after striking a deal with the New England Patriots to acquire wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
Beckham was in attendance for the start of the Giants’ offseason workout program, despite threats of a holdout due to his contract, and the trade rumors. Beckham, who suffered a season-ending fractured ankle in Week 5 of the 2017 season, is set to make $8.5 million on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.
