Stay tuned here for the latest updates from the 2016 NHL Draft! It’s being held this year in Buffalo, NY at the First Niagara Center. We’ll have a list of the first round picks here, as well as any trades that may occur throughout the night.

As expected, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets made Auston Matthews and Patrick Laine the first two picks in the draft. After that, things got interesting.


—Chicago Blackhawks trade Andrew Shaw to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for picks #39 and #45.

—Montreal Canadiens trade Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals in exchange for second-round picks in 2017 and 2018.

—St. Louis Blues trade Brian Elliott to the Calgary Flames in exchange for pick #35.

—New Jersey Devils trade pick #11 to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for pick #12 and pick #80.

—Detroit Red Wings trade Pavel Datsyuk and pick #16 to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Joe Vitale, pick #20 and pick #53.

—Philadelphia Flyers trade pick #16 and pick #79 to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for pick #22 and pick #36.

—Washington Capitals trade pick #26 to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for pick #28 and pick #87.
