Tiger Woods has undergone surgery on his back, the golfer announced on his website Thursday.
The surgery was done to “alleviate ongoing pain in his back and leg.”
Woods, who recently missed the Masters earlier this month due to back pain, hopes this surgery will help relieve back spasms.
“When healed, I look forward to getting back to a normal life, playing with my kids, competing in professional golf and living without the pain I have been battling so long,” said Woods.
The 41-year-old will rest for several weeks, before beginning therapy. Woods is expected to return to full activity in approximately six months.
