James Rodriguez suffered a partial tear of the collateral ligament in his left knee during training on Tuesday and will be sidelined for several weeks. He will be forced to wait another 10 days before he can begin his recovery which is expected to take multiple weeks. The 27-year-old is therefore expected to miss the rest of 2018 and will not be able to play any further part in Bayern’s Champions League group campaign.
The Colombian playmaker has enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Bayern Munich, scoring 11 goals and assisting 16 times in 50 appearances so far for the Bavarian giants. Bayern reportedly have an agreement in place to permanently keep Rodriguez on a two-year deal. The loan from Madrid expires in the summer, which is when Bayern and Rodriguez can put pen to paper and finalize the deal.
