Overshadowed by the Johnny Football frenzy, this game had huge playoff implications. Brian Hoyer looked terrible, making way for the biggest in-season QB controversy in recent memory. Despite losing, however, the Browns playoff chances are still more alive than the Bills. The Browns seem to have a chance at the division title, unlike the Bills. A win would’ve been huge for the Browns, but still they are within striking distance of the Bengals (and their annoying, yet extremely helpful, 8-3-1 record), especially seeing they play once more.
The same can’t be said for the Bills. They are only two games back of the division lead but that seems insurmountable with their remaining schedule. They have games remaining against Denver, Green Bay, Oakland, and New England and coming out of that with two wins would be a miracle in itself. Their only real shot at the playoffs is the wild card and 8-8 most likely won’t cut it.

I think this game could be signaling the beginning of the end for the Cardinals. I didn’t see them as a Super Bowl contender like everyone previously anointed them pre-Carson Palmer injury, and now I don’t even know if they’ll make the playoffs. I could see a scenario where the Cardinals lose out, going 9-7, and miss the playoffs in the ultra-competitive NFC. Even 10-6, just like last year, might not do it. The Seahawks are hitting their stride, where the Cardinals are falling, and at season’s end I believe we’ll see the Seahawks repeating as NFC West champs.
As for the Falcons, I was quite impressed with their performance on Sunday. The talent is finally starting to show through just at the right time. With the NFC South still wide open, the Falcons are in a great position. I firmly believe that if the Saints or the Falcons win their division, regardless if they’re 5-11 or 9-7, I believe they will win their first round playoff game. A team with the talent that the Saints and Falcons have, as well as at home, are a team to be reckoned with. I think the Saints or the Falcons, just like the Seahawks a few years ago, will win their first round playoff game against a team like Dallas, San Francisco, or Detroit. However, someone has to win the division first.

The Calvin we saw today looked like the Calvin of old and with him finally seemingly back to 100%. Having him back in the fold gives them a dangerous one, two punch with Megatron and Golden Tate. Add that to the return of Reggie Bush and the Lions could be a team to be reckoned with, if they’re able to grab the NFC North title or one of the wild card spots.

The Eagles were able to dominate on this Turkey Day, taking the NFC East lead in the process. The offense, defense, and special teams all were clicking on all cylinders today. Sanchez led the Chip Kelly offense to perfection, the defense kept constant pressure on Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray, and special teams continued to do their thing (even though they didn’t score a touchdown). This Eagles team is beginning to look like one of the most complete Eagles team in years and with another win against the Cowboys in two weeks at the Linc they should all but wrap up their second straight NFC East championship.

This is a very interesting time for the NFL, and specifically Roger Goodell and his legacy as commissioner. Through this period where domestic abuse seemed to run rampant, Goodell has been criticized left and right. By making a proper decision with this case, Goodell may be able to win back some fans and players that have turned on him through this process. Either way, Goodell must be decisive, but also think this through thoroughly. A rash decision, just like the one made with Ray Rice, may truly tear down his run as commish.
It’ll also be interesting to see what the Vikings do. Do they suspend, release, or play Peterson? A young quarterback struggling so far would love to get back the best running back in the NFL to ease his transition. But does the whole case outweigh what Peterson can bring on the field? This case goes beyond football and will really show what the NFL and the Vikings value more: money and winning or making the right decision.

The Eagles rebounded nicely after a loss last week, especially having to travel from Arizona to Houston this week. A quarterback controversy could be in the works in Philadelphia, not between Foles and Sanchez but between Foles and his ineptitude to convince everyone that he is indeed the franchise quarterback. Sanchez stepped in and ran the offense nicely, proving that just about anyone may be able to run this offense, which is based off of quick decisions and good line play. Also, hopefully DeMeco Ryans won’t be sidelined too long, as he is the quarterback and leader of the defense. With the Eagles now back in first place, it’ll be interesting to see where the team goes from here.

A healthy offensive line is the key to the Eagles’ success. Getting a few pieces back has helped open up running lanes for LeSean but the full unit is what will return this offense to last year’s version. Also, better offensive line play will hopefully alleviate Nick Foles and his new found love of throwing off of his back foot. A complete offensive line of Peters, Mathis, Kelce, Herremans, and Johnson is the BEST in the league and would enable the Eagles to go toe-to-toe with the Dallas Cowboys and DeMarco Murray.

Painful game to watch as an Eagles fan. The offense was non-existent and the defense performed well, constantly getting pressure on Kaep, however it was usually negated, as the defense constantly shot themselves in the foot (although I disagree with a lot of the calls). Also, the amount and severity of the penalties was alarming. The patchwork offensive line killed drives with holding penalties.
A+ on the day for special teams, however, something which has been absent from previous Eagles teams.
Overall, a bad game for a lot of players. Hats off to the Niners for taking the opportunities that we could not.

It deserves investigation as to what Williams is saying, however, the record should speak for itself. Also, Chip’s system is designed for the offense, at the hands of the defense. The offense running at such a quick tempo is almost guaranteed to lose the time of possession battle in any game, putting the defense on the field for extended amounts of time. That could possibly be the stem of Williams’ frustration.
Also, the amount of injuries sustained through three weeks should be alarming. Mychal Kendricks, Evan Mathis, and Jason Kelce have all gone down with injuries this season. It’ll be hard to prove if these injuries have been a result of being overworked but one can only assume.
