First thing: Man U finished in 4th last year. I think there’s a typo.
I think Schweinsteiger is the best signing to help the immediate success in the team. Him and Schneiderlin will help out a struggling back line. Depay has an incredible future and will be a great signing for the following years; he’s certainly a candidate for Young POTY. This team is absolutely championship or bust, but a second place finish seems very unrealistic. They don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle:
Man U do not have a consistent striker unless Rooney shows signs of years ago. Also they have an inexperienced back line along with a top goalkeeper in De Gea that looks like he could be heading out before the transfer window is up.
I think realistically they finish fourth. City, Arsenal and Chelsea all have more complete squads. It’ll be interesting if they do finish fourth though and what it will mean for LVG’s future.

Wolfsburg is getting better, but they are not challenging for the Bundesliga title. Plain and simple.

I agree with most of these. How come no Altidore though? He may not be the most skilled forward but he poses very challenging match-ups for defenders and has done well for the US in big games in the past.

I’m still curious where people will rank him among the all-time greats if he can lead the Cavs to a championship this year. But that’s a different discussion all together.

If I were to make my own power rankings, here’s how I would put them: 1. Barcelona 2. Bayern 3. Real 4. Atletico 5. PSG 6. Juventus 7. Porto 8. Monaco
Despite my preseason prediction of Bayern to win the Champions League, I think that Barcelona looks like the most impressive team at the moment and are ready to bring another UCL title back to Catalonia.

As an Arsenal fan, I could not agree more with this piece. Every word of it. What I’ve come to realize over the years is that Arsenal is such a tease because they used to be successful, but at the moment, they do not have a team that can win the league or do well in the UCL. It may be simply the acceptation of mediocrity but Arsenal, like you said, needs to find different ways to win and show consistency. With that being said, I think a 2nd or 3rd place finish is an accurate representation of where Arsenal stands in the EPL.

Bayern should cruise by Shaktar, 3-0. This UCL campaign could determine whether or not Pep Guardiola retains his job.
