Pelini may have lost only three fourth-quarter leads in seven years, but many of the games he lost were decided well before the fourth quarter. At least this year the Huskers are playing close to the teams they lose to. Pelini would get blown out on a regular basis during all of his seasons.

There really isn’t too much to say about this, other than Urban should definitely use any insurance money he receives from this to get rid of that old tube television. You would think a guy like him would have one of those new 4K tv’s in his basement, but it looks like he stays old school with his entertainment selections. I’m just really hoping that at least he can still rock out with his Rock Band drum set.

Not only is this great publicity, which I don’t think Drew or his wife cares about, but this is just another positive story of a football player giving back to the school that helped him become one of the most respected players in the NFL. He is helping build the future of the Boilermakers, and his donation back in 2007 shows he cares about more than just the sport. Whether he has burned your team’s defense on the football field or not, you have to respect the man and what he does for his former university.

Taylor Martinez was one of the craziest football players I’ve ever watched. He would hurt the team with turnovers, and then he would make insane plays to bring the team back into the game. One thing is for sure: he always tried his hardest, and a lot of his effort was influenced by Jack Hoffman. It is so great to see someone like him use his prior experiences to allow him to help others, and I’m proud to say he is from a school that I support. I know that a lot of former Huskers have said that Hoffman has been an amazing influence in their lives on and off the field. Martinez might not be liked by all Husker fans, but he has to have their respect after designing this app.

Although he has to sit out for a year, I don’t think there is a more important transfer on the market for the Nebraska Huskers this offseason. While also being in contention for Michigan graduate transfer Max Bielfeldt, Nebraska is the one team on the list of possible teams that desperately needs some more depth inside. We saw last season how atrocious their inside offense and defense was without a consistent post threat, and these two guys could come in and make an immediate impact with Bielfeldt next year, and Chukwu the year after that. Combine them with the talented crop of incoming Freshmen, and Nebraska could be a real threat in the Big Ten for the next few seasons. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Although this is not very surprising to me, it is pretty insignificant to really call these “violations.” There are so many rules that the NCAA has in place, and whenever I hear stories like this, it reminds me of an episode of Blue Mountain State where they discuss how coaches can provide bagels for their athletes, but not cream cheese. Violations like these are so petty, and the NCAA just continues to bring in more money through fines that they receive for infractions.

The scary thought is that Bama might be one great quarterback away from being even better than last year. If Miller transfers to the Crimson Tide, they have to be in the discussion for the College Football Playoff (as if they aren’t already without him). Although as a Husker fan I should be happy if he transfers, it won’t make much of a difference because the Buckeyes still have two incredible quarterbacks. I can’t remember any other time that one team was so stacked at quarterback.

This is not the Lawrence Phillips that Husker fans want to remember, but this is the Lawrence Phillips that football fans have sadly come to expect. It is awful that this does not come as a surprise to me. However, and this is no-way at all condones what he has done, Phillips never had a solid foundation on what it means to be a good person. He had so many problems growing up, and it led to this. Although many people were upset with Tom Osborne’s decision to keep Phillips on the team, it is very apparent that the only thing keeping him out of trouble was being in a stable environment. Too bad that didn’t even help much. It is sad that such a talented player took this path, but he has no one to blame for his crimes but himself.

I have no problem with a player wanting to tuck in his jersey, and I’m not sure the NCAA knows why they even made this rule. It seems like every time a player or team does something “against the norm,” the NCAA feels compelled to flex their muscles and make a new rule. I remember back in the 90’s when many defensive lineman wore their jerseys tucked in, and seeing it from current players reminded me of a better time (at least for other fellow Husker fans. All we have is our past.)

I think it would be great to bring back the tradition of helmet stickers. Harbaugh is a Michigan man and he wants to bring back the days of the old (like, you know, where Michigan was good). This is a step in the right direction in terms of going back to the glory days of Wolverine football, and it will help take away some of the pain that Michigan fans endured during the Brady Hoke years with the Legend Jerseys. Both traditions are neat, but the helmet stickers tradtition is timeless. Plus, I think it would be a great recruiting tool for Harbaugh and Co.
